Volunteer with Spoons

Make a difference to neonatal families

Volunteers are at the heart of Spoons. Every day they help families feel supported, connected and understood during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Whether you have lived experience of neonatal care, professional skills to share, or simply want to give your time, there are many ways you can get involved.

We provide training, ongoing support and reimbursement of agreed expenses, helping you feel confident in your role from the very beginning.

Ways to volunteer

Peer Support Volunteers

Our peer support volunteers use their own lived experience of neonatal care to support other families. By offering understanding, encouragement and hope, they help parents feel less alone throughout their neonatal journey.

Support may take place on neonatal units, online, through one to one conversations or within our community activities.

Community Group Volunteers

Community group volunteers help create welcoming spaces where families can connect with others who understand neonatal care.

Whether helping with activities, welcoming families or supporting sessions behind the scenes, you’ll play an important role in helping our groups run smoothly.

Spoons Neonatal Advisory Panel Members

SNAP brings together parents and families who want to help improve neonatal care.

By sharing experiences, reviewing resources and contributing to service improvement projects, SNAP members help ensure family voices continue to shape services for future families.

Trustees

Trustees help guide the strategic direction of Spoons, ensuring the charity remains well governed, financially sustainable and focused on supporting families.

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and skills.
